new creativity.

It may have past one season since this chicest blue-and-red pattern has first caught my eye but it still remains strong in my day dreams. It was all about trying to find a new creativity, Miuccia Prada said. And definitely i say that she created some of the most eye-catching colour and pattern combinations, a fashion forward romantic collection- a true perfection for this spring.

..And then again, browsing through my 'INSPIRATION' files i found this:

and i thought of how tired i am of these twin-like similarities in the fashion world.. I still think that Prada created a collection of high aesthetics for springtime 2008 but was it Luella who designed it first back in SS06? Well probably someone else long before them was the one to have launched it.. Does it really matter though? It can be politely and artisticaly called inspiration or even new creativity avoiding this way the dilemmas that usually result from such conversations.

i agree with you.
it's like when celeb designers say that they were 'inspired by they own closets'.
well someone created the clothes in their closets, so it isn't their idea/design.
it's hard to draw the line though.

Hmmm... I would say that a pattern like that is not a particularly special one so even if Prada did take inspiration, she has really taken it to new heights with the shape anyway....

The red and blue is fantastic, and I noticed in the last picture they've coupled it with camel coloured shoes - I would do the same! Love it.

I prefer Luella one. I think designers are so influenced by so many things that trying to count them is almost and endless job! I am ok with the linkage;)! I'll add you to mine.

If the Prada dress actually was inspired by the one from Luella I certainly wouldn't want to call it progression. I guess what I'm trying to say is, that if you do find inspiration in someone else's work, you should at least try to make your new creation better than the 'original', otherwise the whole point of inspiration gets lost and it becomes more of a lousy rip off than a product of new creativity. Ofcourse I have no idea whether this was the case or not so there's a good chance this whole comment was pointless :p
