POW! BANG! BANG!

Superheroes are back.. as you (probably) have noticed since Anna Wintour decided to set around them the theme of this year's MET exhibition. The symbolic associaton between fashion and superheroes is still under consideration though. It 's better to underline in this case the fact of being instantly recognizable as well as their transformations, both related to their emblematic costumes. Some, though, may track more similarities between them mentioning issues of social identity and impact. Allow me to disagree with such claims. The need- mainly social- that brought Superheroes back has nothing to do anymore with the 'needs' in the fashion industry. Of course the fashion industry, being part of this society, quickly adapts to the current socio-political circumstances each time and is being affected by them but to tell the truth it has a very low impact on future changes in spite of some spreaded statements (ex. Vivienne Westwood's slogans).

To what extent do you believe Superheroes and Fashion are related to each other?

Being superheroe-bombarded lately (The Dark Knight is out tomorrow- can't wait, Luella bat-tees are everywhere, fall 's structured shoulders can be a reference to super powers etc.) and between daydreaming and eating ice creams 2 super-heroines were born..
Please welcome Ms. S. Faire and Melanwoman!!

One thing we know about 's personal life, and that is her french origine. Ouh la la! That's what she 's murmuring everytime she 's on her way to fight the evil powers of this world. Ms. S. Faire doesn't have any permanent secret base. She usually disguises in public libraries and is said to prefer the geography sections where all the maps are. (Wonder why...!). Her most powerful accesory is her silver cuff that tunes with the desperate and in need voices of the city. That 's her social 'compass'. Ms. S. Faire rarely works independently. She either functions within male teams or prefers to work with her younger sidekick.
*Ms. S. Faire has been repeatedly blamed for taking spontaneous decisions and for being a little old school when it comes to morals. (She denies both!).

is an expert in martial arts and uses her extra-long feet to exterminate most of the enemies. She is addicted to her Martin Margiela mask that helps her keeping her identity secret. This domino-like mask is the perfect x-ray tool that never, ever lets her down when it comes to night missions. Her secret base is said to be the atelier of an infamous couturier whose spirit gives her inspiration and mental integrity.
*If you ever meet her do not shake her hand. This pair of patent Prada gloves is set to transmit to whoever touches her hand the chemical elements that provoke permanent melancholy..

p.s The rise of Superheroes has always been detected during hard times- just for the record.

I actually LOVE this post. And the Batman song just makes my day!

I so badly want to wear that black look.

They are inextricably linked!!
For fall, I love the double cuffs, a la Wonderwoman.
Your polyvore is fantastic, and I like how the Batman theme is playing in the background here on your blog - cute!
Btw, have you seen the new Barbie that is supposed to be inspired by some comic book character? She is wearing leather and fishnets!

I'll try the Cosmopolitan at the Plaza if I had the time; it must be expensive, but nice anyway
